The French steep skier Kilian Jornet has conquered the Troll Wall, Europe’s steepest wall at 1700m and a pitch of 62 degrees.
Descending just over a mile of vertical, Kilian hop turned and ice axed his way down the intimidating face, setting an unmatched first descent for steep skiers everywhere.
The Troll Wall is part of Norway’s Alps, and is known for rockfalls and the way the ridge hangs over the slope for its top 160 feet. It is a popular spot for BASE jumpers, even though BASE jumping was outlawed here in 1986. It is unbelievable that Kilian Jornet managed to ski it. Congratulations to him.
