During the GKA Big Air contest on Fuerteventura last year, Airton Cozzolino from Cabo Verde in Northwest Africa racked up 19 seconds of airtime during high winds.

Airton is not new to the kitesurfing world. In 2011, he burst onto the scene when he won the Kitesurf World Championship. Only the year before, Airton was officially adopted by Italian businessman Libero Cozzolino, who became his coach. The two now run a kitesurfing school together.
