We sat down with legendary skier and athlete Julian Carr to learn a little more about his roots in skiing. Julian is an amazing skier all around, but he is most well known for throwing some of the biggest airs in skiing. He is a common face in the films, appearing in seven Warren Miller films so far. Julian’s general fearlessness is something to behold, so we wanted to investigate a little further into what makes him tick.

Where are you from?
I am from Salt Lake City, UT.
How did you get into skiing?
My mom took me skiing in 8th grade. I grew up playing soccer, football, basketball, and lots of skateboarding. I actually went snowboarding in 5th grade, sprained my knee the first run, and didn’t hop back on snow until 8th grade on skis with my mom. 100% fell in love with skiing the first day.
Craziest thing you’ve done in the backcountry?
I wouldn’t say anything is crazy, but the idea of being in the backcountry with a small group of your buddies, producing content, skiing lines, chatting safety protocol, discussing film perspectives, radio communication… it’s a pretty wild experience to be self-sufficient in that regard.
What is your dream job?
Skiing for a living.
Fun Fact about yourself?
I love to draw mazes.
Where do you want to be in 10 years?
Healthy and happy.
