HBO’s ‘Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel’ has a reputation for shining a light on the lesser seen side of sports. For years, the show has dove into the back ends of sporting phenomenons and dug up stories that others miss. This segment on extreme sports cameramen is no different.

From wing suits in Italy, surf photographers at Pipeline, to ski photographers and Jimmy Chin‘s narrative on the making of Free Solo, this is a great segment to understand what’s going on behind the scenes. Often times, the cameramen are taking even more risks than their subjects, and usually without the same fanfare.
