Watch these guys take on Newport Beach’s iconic ‘The Wedge’ surf break without boards. They call it the Wedge because it often closes out on riders, making it pretty well known for wipeouts. The wedge shaped waves were formed after the construction of the jetty, which pops the wave up one side and forces it to close out on itself. Then you have the hard shore break which creates an outgoing wave to meet in the breaking waves. The result is a tumultuous washing machine of surf and sand that probably shouldn’t be body surfed – or ridden with an inflatable air mattress.

The first half of “Matadors of The Wedge” starts with these guys bodyboarding the double overhead waves, which in our eyes is crazy enough. Once they get tired of that, it’s on to the air mattress! Nice video from Untitled.work.
